Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout or BBIS (pronounced BEE-biss) returns with the 2019 vintage. This crowd favorite has been years in the making and is returning on Saturday, October 26, 2019. BBIS will be available on tap and in 22oz wax-dipped bottles, while supplies last.
The majority of the barrels in this year’s blend have been aging for about one year, and the addition of a two year old batch into the blend adds layers of complexity. We barrel aged this stout in 10 to 12 year Heaven Hills bourbon barrels as well as a handful of Dry Fly barrels, in addition to the two-year barrel. Using the same oat-forward and British specialty malt recipe that hails back from the original version brewed in 2013, we introduced some new techniques to make the beer bigger, richer and silkier. We believe both of these enhancements make this vintage one of the best yet – which is high praise for a beer that has been Grand National Champion at the USBTC, Two-time Gold winner at the World Beer Championships, and Gold at the Best of Craft Beer Awards.
Warming aromas of cocoa, milk chocolate and bourbon. The sip offers a silky mouthfeel, with vanilla and rich milk chocolate mid palate. Background notes of smoke, licorice and coffee are wrapped up with some cherry liquor at the finish.
